URGENT UPDATE: A massive truck convoy has just raised an impressive $85,000 for children undergoing serious medical treatment, significantly benefiting families in need. Hundreds of big rigs and vehicles from across the nation converged at the Albury Showgrounds on January 18, 2025, as part of the annual Twin City’s National Show ‘n’ Shine and Convoy for Kids event.
The fundraising total continues to climb, marking a substantial increase from last year’s total of $65,000. This year’s turnout exemplifies the generosity of the trucking community and the public, all united to support Country Hope, a charity providing essential assistance to families facing challenging medical journeys.
Around 300 vehicles, including cranes, milk trucks, classic rigs, and vintage cars, began arriving at the showgrounds from 8 AM, with a spectacular convoy setting off just an hour later. Onlookers lined the route to witness the impressive parade, showcasing the community’s spirit and commitment to helping others.
Marketing and events manager Monique Taylor emphasized the event’s success, stating, “Dawson’s [Haulage] secured the lead truck position with a donation of $16,000. It’s amazing the amount of money raised and the amount of people; everyone has said they’ve never seen the showgrounds so busy. It was a great turnout and a cracker of a day.”
Families attending enjoyed a variety of kid-friendly activities, ensuring that the event was not only about fundraising but also about creating smiles. Taylor highlighted the profound impact of events like these, saying, “We have around 50 families we have on the Border that we’re looking after, and events like this help more than people know.”
