The Yarra Ranges Council is launching a Wellness Walk Series this summer, inviting residents to participate in guided walks designed to promote physical activity and mental well-being. Set against the backdrop of some of the region’s most picturesque trails, these walks aim to create a relaxed environment for individuals to connect with their community while enjoying the outdoors.
Lillydale Lake will host one of the walks on January 31, 2024, from 09:30 to 10:30. Participants are encouraged to meet at the toilet block. Simultaneously, another walk will take place in Mt Evelyn on February 28, 2024, meeting at the Trail Café during the same time frame. For those willing to travel a bit further, a final walk is scheduled in Belgrave on March 31, 2024, also from 09:30 to 10:30, with participants gathering at the library.
The initiative is primarily targeted at individuals aged 18–25, but the Yarra Ranges Council encourages others outside this age group to register their interest, as additional options may be available. This program offers a unique opportunity for people to engage in physical activity at an easy pace, fostering both social connections and the mental health benefits associated with outdoor walking.
Participants can join solo or bring a friend, with opportunities to meet new people along the way. The council has also organized incentives, including prizes for participants, to enhance the experience.
The Wellness Walk Series represents a commitment by the Yarra Ranges Council to promote health and well-being among community members. Interested individuals are encouraged to register early, ensuring a spot in these enriching outdoor experiences.
