Fiat is preparing to introduce a new generation of the Scudo mid-size commercial van to the Australian market, marking its return after more than a decade. Government filings indicate that this model has received approval for sale, with documentation submitted in November 2025. While Fiat Professional Australia has not yet confirmed the exact launch date, such approvals typically precede vehicle releases by several months.
Details of the New Fiat Scudo
The upcoming Scudo is a rebadged version of the Peugeot Expert, sharing its platform with other models under the Stellantis umbrella, including the Citroen Jumpy, Toyota Proace, Opel Vivaro, and Vauxhall Vivaro. This new iteration will be available in two configurations: a standard and a long-wheelbase version. Both models feature a three-seat bench and are powered by a familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that delivers 110 kW of power.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with power directed to the front wheels. Notably, no electric variants, such as the E-Scudo, have been approved for sale in Australia so far. In contrast, the related all-electric Peugeot E-Expert is already available in the market.
Specifications and Features
Both versions of the Scudo are designed with practicality in mind, featuring sliding doors on each side and barn doors at the rear. The standard-wheelbase model measures 4,981 mm in length, 1,924 mm in width, and 1,955 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,275 mm. The long-wheelbase version extends the overall length by 350 mm, reaching 5,331 mm, while maintaining the same wheelbase.
In terms of weight, both models have a tare mass of approximately 1,700 kg, a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 3,100 kg, and a braked towing capacity of 600 kg. The approval filings also detail standard features such as 16-inch wheels (with an option for 17-inch), an internal partition, and front and rear fog lamps. Additionally, an optional vertical tailgate can replace the rear barn doors.
Previously, Australian consumers have not had the option to purchase a Fiat Scudo since 2015, when the last generation of this model, also a rebadged Peugeot Expert, was available. As Fiat prepares for this new launch, the automotive community awaits further confirmation from Fiat Professional Australia regarding the exact timing and details of the rollout.
