Coffee and Bar is set to introduce a new mobile cart service across Southern Nevada this Spring, bringing a unique blend of coffee and cocktails to local events. Owner Kalika Moquin announced that the mobile cart will be available at various venues, including First Fridays, farmer’s markets, and sporting events. Additionally, customers will have the option to rent the Coffee and Bar cart for private parties and weddings.
The concept behind Coffee and Bar embraces the motto “All Coffee Everything,” offering espresso drinks during the day and transitioning to espresso cocktails at night. In an interview with What Now Las Vegas, Moquin highlighted the mobile cart’s signature offerings, including the much-acclaimed sparkplug shot, which is a shot version of the popular espresso martini. “If you have never had a sparkplug shot, try one,” she encouraged.
Moquin’s passion for coffee began at the age of 16, but her enthusiasm for cocktails, particularly espresso martinis and sparkplug shots, flourished during her time at N9NE Steakhouse at The Palms. “It has always been a dream to have a coffee-related business,” she stated, reflecting on her journey in the hospitality industry. She recalls how the espresso martini gained traction in the early 2000s, with her and her colleagues playing a pivotal role in popularizing the drink throughout trendy restaurants in Las Vegas.
The mobile cart will feature a diverse range of espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, hot cocoa, and spiced lattes. “We are using Bristot, Italian roasting,” Moquin explained. The coffee beans, a blend of Arabica and Robusta sourced from Brazil, Central America, and India, are crafted to create distinct flavor profiles and a rich frothy head for drinks, particularly for the classic espresso martini.
On the cocktail front, Coffee and Bar will specialize in an array of espresso-based drinks, including classic espresso martinis, Carajillo drinks, and the signature sparkplug shots. Moquin emphasized that the classic martini will be crafted to perfection, using fresh espresso, vanilla vodka, and Kahlúa, ensuring no substitutes like Baileys or chocolate are included.
While the ultimate goal is to establish a brick-and-mortar location, Moquin is currently dedicated to launching the mobile cart and providing Southern Nevada with a fresh coffee experience.
