General manager and president of football operations Brandon Beane confirmed on Wednesday that while surgery is a possibility, it will not interfere with Allen’s participation in organized team activities this offseason.
Allen sustained the injury during a Week 16 victory against the Cleveland Browns. Despite the initial discomfort, the soreness persisted, leading to further complications, including issues with his left knee and right finger during Buffalo’s wild-card victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Beane did not specify when the surgery might take place if it is deemed necessary.
During the Bills’ end-of-season press conference, Beane addressed various team matters, including the recent dismissal of coach Sean McDermott. Owner Terry Pegula explained that the decision stemmed from the team reaching what he termed “the proverbial wall” following another early exit from the postseason. In the AFC divisional round game against the Denver Broncos, Allen struggled, contributing to four of Buffalo’s five turnovers in a tight 33-30 overtime loss.
