“It’s a lot of help. Kakes 4 Kidz isn’t just Novelty Cakes by Maz; it’s a small community of people that come together,” Mulloy stated. She emphasized that the success of the initiative relies on contributions from various individuals who provide supplies, skills, and even assistance with logistics. “I appreciate everybody who pitches in and helps. I couldn’t do it by myself,” she added.
Initially conceived to offer just cakes, the program has evolved into a comprehensive birthday celebration, thanks to the donations of items such as lollies and cookies from friends and community members. “I did that years back when it was just cakes, but now it’s like a whole party,” Mulloy explained.
As the program continues to grow, Mulloy expressed her hesitation about re-launching the initiative this year due to the extensive work involved. Yet, the positive feedback and the joy it brings to children motivated her to proceed. “If I can make a child’s day that bit more special, why wouldn’t I? It’s all about giving, and I think it really warms my heart to see the expressions on kids’ faces when they come and collect it,” she shared.
