The Narrogin Lions Club is set to host a significant clearing sale on February 14, 2024, at 1209 Wickepin-Pingelly Road, aiming to raise funds for community projects. This event is anticipated to be the club’s largest fundraising effort to date, featuring a variety of machinery and equipment that will support local initiatives.
According to Scott Young, a director of the Narrogin Lions Club, the organization operates in over 200 countries, with a mission to raise funds and reinvest them back into the community. The clearing sale will include notable items such as a LiuGong 842 Series 3 loader with just 968 hours of use, an MX 135 Case tractor with 7,035 hours, and a Mitsubishi FM 515 truck that has covered 211,000 km. Additionally, an outside vendor will contribute an International ACCO 1830 truck to the sale.
The equipment available for auction has been sourced from local grain producer Stephen Rose, who has recently leased his farm and is preparing for retirement. Mr. Young noted that the items up for bid consist mainly of smaller tools and machinery, as the larger equipment has already been sold. He expects that the LiuGong loader will attract significant interest from bidders.
The Narrogin Lions Club operates on a commission basis, retaining 20 percent of the auction proceeds to support community projects. Over the years, these funds have contributed to various local needs, including upgrades to hospitals, community buses for seniors, and other essential projects. While Mr. Young mentioned that the specific allocation of this auction’s earnings is still under consideration, the club’s past initiatives demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the local area.
Fundraising efforts by the Narrogin Lions Club are diverse, encompassing activities like raffles, sausage sizzles, and catering services for local events, such as the town’s Australia Day celebrations. Mr. Young highlighted that sales of sheep and ewes, along with winter firewood raffles, form a substantial part of their fundraising strategy.
As the clearing sale approaches, the community is encouraged to participate and support the Narrogin Lions Club’s efforts. With a rich history of giving back, the club continues to make a positive impact through its fundraising activities. The clearing sale promises to be a remarkable opportunity for locals to contribute to their community while acquiring valuable equipment.
