Nicolas Cage recently shared insights into his past relationship with actress Sarah Jessica Parker, revealing that it ultimately did not last due to a memorable dinner with her mother. The 61-year-old actor, who dated the Sex and the City star during the late 1990s, recounted his experience in an interview with E! News, humorously noting that he did not “pass the Mom test.”

Cage recalled their first dinner together at the iconic Russian Tea Room, stating, “I cared about Sarah, but I don’t think I passed the Mom test. I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don’t know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn’t hear from her again.”

The romance began around the time they were filming the 1992 romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas. During a recent appearance on *Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen*, Parker confirmed their relationship when posed with the question by host Andy Cohen, who remarked, “Oh wow. We’ve got some talking to do!”

The conversation also touched upon Parker’s current marriage to Matthew Broderick, with whom she has three children: James, 22, and 16-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion. Parker disclosed that she was the first to express her love to Broderick, who starred in *The Lion King*.

In discussing her long-lasting marriage, Parker attributed its success to maintaining a low profile away from Hollywood. She shared her thoughts with HELLO! magazine, stating, “Probably that I don’t talk about it! It really is a secret. But maybe it’s because we’re not a Hollywood couple. We live in New York – maybe that’s good.”

Parker’s approach to her personal life contrasts with the often-public relationships seen in the entertainment industry. By keeping her family life private, she believes it has fostered a stable and enduring partnership with Broderick since their marriage in 1997.

As Cage and Parker reflect on their past, their stories serve as reminders of the complexities and challenges that often accompany relationships, particularly in the glare of public attention.
