Amazon has unveiled a new AI-powered tool designed to assist businesses in creating advertisements. The Creative Agent, part of Amazon’s Creative Studio, enables users to generate advertisements through natural language prompts. This innovative offering encompasses the entire ad production process, including image and video generation, voiceovers, music, storyboarding, and ad delivery.
According to Amazon, the Creative Agent also incorporates initial product and audience research. This foundational context enhances the AI’s ability to deliver tailored advertising solutions. The integration of extensive retail insights and customer shopping signals from Amazon’s vast data resources is a key feature of this tool, significantly boosting its effectiveness in ad creation.
Cost and Time Efficiency Redefined
The introduction of the Creative Agent promises substantial cost and time savings for businesses. Traditional ad development can often take weeks and incur costs in the thousands. In contrast, the new AI tool can produce finished advertisements in just a few hours, without any additional expenses. Phil Christer, Managing Director of Amazon Ads UK, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “This is about more than speed – it’s about giving every advertiser and agency access to the kind of strategic, high-quality creative support that once only large brands could afford.”
Christer highlighted that Amazon is effectively “breaking down barriers of cost and time,” making advanced advertising capabilities accessible to a broader range of businesses.
Technical Infrastructure and Availability
The Creative Agent is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and utilizes foundational models available on Amazon Bedrock, including technologies such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude. Users have the flexibility to edit, iterate, and refine storyboards throughout the ad creation process, ensuring that they are not confined to the initial computer-generated outputs.
Generated advertisements can be deployed across various Amazon advertising platforms, including Amazon DSP, Streaming TV, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display. The Creative Agent is currently available to advertisers in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain, following its launch for US advertisers earlier in November 2023.
