UPDATE: In a shocking crackdown, several men have been arrested for attempting to import child-like sex dolls into rural areas of Australia. The Australian Border Force (ABF) has launched a significant operation, resulting in four arrests over the past year, highlighting a disturbing trend in child exploitation material imports.
Authorities executed multiple raids in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions, leading to the apprehension of individuals involved in this abhorrent activity. The most recent arrest occurred earlier today, when a 63-year-old man was charged at his residence following an investigation that began in November 2024.
In April 2025, ABF officers intercepted a doll shipped via air cargo, falsely declared as a silicone doll. This interception was part of a broader operation aimed at curbing the rise in importation attempts. The situation escalated in May when a 49-year-old man was arrested on a rural property near Scone, located approximately two hours north of Newcastle.
In June 2025, another interception occurred in Whitebridge, leading to the arrest of a 55-year-old man at his home. This concerning pattern of illegal imports underscores the urgency of the ABF’s efforts to combat child exploitation.
ABF Inspector Michael Mahony stated, “Dolls that normalize child exploitation are far from a victimless crime and they have no place in the Australian community.” He reaffirmed the ABF’s commitment to seizing all forms of child abuse material at the border and ensuring that those responsible face justice.
The accused are charged with the importation of Tier 2 Goods, specifically the child-like sex dolls, and could face severe penalties, including fines up to $782,500 or up to 10 years in prison, or both. Investigators have also seized numerous mobile phones and electronic devices containing evidence of child abuse material and illicit drugs during the raids.
This urgent situation raises critical awareness about the ongoing issues of child exploitation and the importance of stringent measures to combat these crimes. The ABF encourages the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to child exploitation.
As these investigations continue, further updates are expected. Authorities remain resolute in their battle against these heinous acts, emphasizing that the protection of children is paramount. Share this urgent news to spread awareness and foster discussions around this critical issue.
