URGENT UPDATE: The highly-anticipated Berry Long Run is set to make its return on August 9, 2023, marking its 11th year of raising crucial funds to support individuals affected by family violence. This non-profit race features a challenging 70-kilometre route through the stunning landscapes of Moorabool, beginning at Blackwood Mineral Springs and culminating back in town.
Participants can also opt for a 40-kilometre marathon, both of which promise breathtaking views and an invigorating experience. Race organizer Joe Lewis emphasized the event’s importance, stating that proceeds will benefit Berry Street, an organization dedicated to helping children impacted by neglect and abuse.
Mr. Lewis remarked, “They’ve always done a lot to support families who have been impacted by abuse and neglect… they run foster care programs as well as actual schools across Victoria.” The event not only raises funds but also fosters community spirit, with a significant number of local volunteers, including the dedicated Melton City Runners, ensuring the race runs smoothly.
Volunteers play a vital role, and Mr. Lewis encouraged more community members to get involved, stating, “There’s always room for more volunteers.” Registration is open on the official event website, where potential participants can find essential details regarding runner requirements and registration.
IMPORTANT: Registrations for the 70-kilometre run close on August 6, and spaces are limited. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this impactful community event. For more information, visit berrylongrun.com.
