Nugget Markets is set to enhance the culinary landscape in the Sacramento area with the opening of two new locations. The family-owned supermarket will debut its Granite Bay store this month, occupying a 42,000-square-foot space in the former Walmart building at 4080 Douglas Blvd. A second location in Rocklin is planned to follow by the summer of 2026, offering an array of gourmet options.
With a reputation for providing a European-style marketplace atmosphere, Nugget Markets emphasizes premium perishables, specialty groceries, and a diverse selection of organic and locally sourced products. The company’s distinctive identity is highlighted by its in-house bakery, deli, chef-driven kitchen, and coffee and juice bar, setting it apart from traditional grocery stores.
Store Director Cody Moody expressed the company’s commitment to offering a unique shopping experience. “Our aim is to provide a unique and uplifting shopping experience with an emphasis on fresh, organic, quality products that are both sourced locally and internationally. We want to have items for everybody,” he stated in an interview with Gold Country Media.
The deli and kitchen will feature chef-prepared meals and sandwiches, alongside fresh-cut meats from their premium meat department. The bakery is set to delight customers with artisan breads made daily, as well as custom cakes and sweet treats. Popular items from the deli include the BLTA, Pork Banh Mi, and Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich.
In addition to these offerings, Nugget’s chef-driven kitchen will provide a rotating selection of dishes such as Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Parmesan, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Customers can also enjoy daily selections of sushi and cheeses, alongside ready-to-eat meals.
A partnership with Equator Coffees ensures that coffee enthusiasts will have access to locally roasted high-quality brews, while the juice bar will feature an array of refreshing citrus juices, power shots, and nutrient-rich acai and pitaya bowls.
Founded in 1926 by father-and-son team William and Mack Stille, Nugget Markets has steadily expanded its reach over the past century. The opening of the Granite Bay location marks the company’s 17th store and continues its legacy of blending traditional hospitality with modern culinary expertise.
As these new locations prepare to open, local residents can look forward to an enhanced shopping experience, filled with fresh, high-quality products and a commitment to community engagement.
