UPDATE: A shocking murder trial is unfolding in Melbourne as Mark Ludbrook, a man who uses a wheelchair, stands accused of fatally stabbing his friend Autumn Baker on August 3, 2023. In a gripping testimony, his carer, Amber Davison, revealed disturbing details about Ludbrook’s behavior leading up to the tragic event.

Authorities report that Ludbrook, 29, was behaving erratically just hours before the stabbing, claiming his mind was altered by the illicit drug PCE. Ludbrook has pleaded not guilty to murder, asserting he had no control over his actions during the incident at his home in Melbourne’s west.

On the morning of the incident, Davison arrived at Ludbrook’s residence around 8:30 AM. Initially, their interaction seemed normal, but soon took a dark turn. Ludbrook made unusual requests, including asking Davison for a $50 note and demanding they close the lights to “save animals.”

As the situation escalated, Ludbrook was seen walking naked in his backyard, an alarming sight captured on Davison’s videos. He remained naked and agitated for approximately 90 minutes before Baker arrived for a welfare check after failing to reach Ludbrook on his phone.

Tragically, the situation escalated further. Ludbrook grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and retreated to his bedroom. Davison, realizing the gravity of the situation, attempted to intervene as Baker entered the room, only to hear Baker scream moments later.

“I heard her scream; she sounded terrified and was calling out for me not to leave her,” Davison testified, visibly shaken. When she re-entered the room, she found Ludbrook stabbing Baker. Despite her attempts to pull him away, he threatened her, stating, “Why wouldn’t you sleep with me? See what you’ve done.”

After fleeing the room, Davison called emergency services, reporting the chaos unfolding inside. When authorities arrived, they found Ludbrook covered in blood, with some of his organs exposed. Baker was unresponsive on the floor, tragically succumbing to her injuries.

The trial continues as the jury grapples with the disturbing events that transpired that day. This case highlights the urgent need for addressing mental health issues and the impact of substance abuse on individuals and their communities.

As the trial progresses, many are left questioning how such a horrific act could unfold. This developing story is sure to resonate with those concerned about public safety and mental health.
