rosalia-embraces-freedom-rejects-labels-on-sexuality

Rosalia, the acclaimed Spanish singer, has expressed her desire to remain free from the pressures of defining her sexuality. In a recent interview with ELLE magazine, the 32-year-old artist emphasized her belief in personal freedom when it comes to her sexual identity. This statement comes in light of her friend, actress Hunter Schafer, revealing last year that the two had a brief romantic involvement in 2019.

When asked about the necessity of labeling her sexuality, Rosalia asserted, “No, I do not pressure myself. I think of freedom. That’s what guides me.” This perspective underscores her commitment to authenticity over societal expectations.

Rumors have circulated regarding Rosalia’s relationship with German actor and singer Emilio Sakraya. However, she downplayed these speculations, stating, “I spend many hours in the studio. I’m in seclusion.” This statement reflects her focus on her craft, as she has not released a new album since her 2022 project, Motomami.

Rosalia elaborated on her approach to music, highlighting the fast-paced nature of the industry. “The rhythm [of the music industry] is so fast. And the sacrifice, the price to pay, is so high,” she explained. She believes that the motivation to create must stem from a place of purity, rather than from commercial interests. “Motives like money, pleasure, power…I don’t feel that they are fertile. Nothing will come out of there that I’m really interested in,” she added.

The artist also shared her views on the differing approaches of male and female songwriters. Rosalia noted that traditional male songwriting often focuses on individual achievements, stating, “Many times, the more masculine way of making music is about the hero: the me, what I’ve accomplished, what I have…blah blah blah.” In contrast, she described a more feminine approach as “foraging,” where the songwriter draws inspiration from the stories of others rather than positioning themselves at the center.

Hunter Schafer, who is 26 years old, previously defended her relationship with Rosalia, emphasizing that it is not for public scrutiny. She remarked, “I have really beautiful friendships with people that I was once romantically involved with. Rosalia’s family no matter what.” Schafer expressed frustration over the speculation, stating, “Part of us just wants to get it over with, and then another part is like, ‘It’s none of anybody’s f****** business!’”

Rosalia’s commitment to remaining true to herself and her art serves as a powerful testament in an age where personal lives are often subject to public debate. As she continues to navigate her career and personal identity, her focus on freedom and authenticity resonates with many of her fans.
