The Bunny Hive, a vibrant social club aimed at young children and their caregivers, is set to open its doors in Bethesda on September 27, 2023. This will be the first location in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, expanding the reach of a concept that has already embraced families across ten states.

Families are invited to join the grand opening celebration at 4925 Auburn Ave., which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Attendees can reserve a complimentary one-hour time slot during which children will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, including playtime, arts and crafts, and enjoying sweet treats.

Creating Community Through Play

The Bunny Hive aims to foster a sense of community for families. Owner Jordan Smith, a resident of Silver Spring and mother of two, recognized the importance of connection during her own parenting journey. Her background in managing local yoga studios, focused on well-being and connection, inspired her to create a supportive environment for Bethesda families.

“After having my first daughter, I immediately felt the need for community during that major life transition,” Smith shared. “I wanted to create a space in Bethesda where parents can connect, feel supported, and build friendships that last beyond the early years.”

The studio features a main area known as ‘The Hive,’ equipped with play tents, cushioned blocks, ball pits, and slides, designed to stimulate children’s creativity and social interaction. A dedicated studio room will host a variety of classes for children from two weeks old to kindergarten, including art, toddler ballet, baby massage, and sensory play.

Membership Options and Special Events

The Bunny Hive will operate Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Families can choose from several membership options, including monthly memberships priced at $225, which offer unlimited classes and a 50% discount on premium events. There are also options for drop-in visits and class packs.

For private gatherings such as baby showers and birthdays, the studio is available for rental. Families can reserve the space for $900 for a three-hour session, which includes full access to the studio and on-site staff support. Additional hours can be added for $300 each.

The Bunny Hive, founded in 2019 by Brittany Schmid and Katy Doar, has gained a reputation for its warm, inclusive culture and thoughtfully designed spaces aimed at enriching the lives of young families. As the Bethesda location opens, it promises to be a valuable addition to the community, providing a nurturing environment for children and their caregivers.
