The Central Coast’s beloved Oyster Festival is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, continuing a tradition that began in 2000. The festival, recognized as one of the longest-running community events in the region, will take place at the Woy Woy waterfront, promising a weekend packed with oysters, food, wine, and entertainment.

Chamber President Matthew Wales expressed pride in the festival’s enduring legacy. “As a local business organization, we are very proud to have provided this free iconic community event for 25 years,” he stated. The festival, which began with modest origins, has grown significantly, attracting thousands of visitors to the Central Coast each year.

Deepwater Plaza, the festival’s Naming Sponsor, is returning for another year. With over 40 years of retailing and service in the Peninsula community, the shopping center plays a vital role in providing local jobs and retail services. Wales emphasized the economic impact of the Oyster Festival, noting, “The festival brings thousands of visitors to the Peninsula, giving a huge boost to the local economy.”

The support from local businesses is crucial, with sponsors including Bruce Kerr Pty Ltd., Atlantis Apartments, and Stephensons Real Estate, which have all committed to contributing to this year’s festivities. Other sponsors such as Yellow Brick Road, Holiday Co., and Six Strings Brewery also add to the festival’s community spirit. “These family businesses form the backbone of our local town centers,” Wales remarked, highlighting their importance in supporting the event.

The Chamber of Commerce invites participants for the popular contest, “How Many Oysters Can You Eat in 30 Seconds.” Last year’s winner managed to consume an impressive 32 oysters, adding excitement to the festival atmosphere.

Entertainment will kick off at 10:00 AM with a live performance by Jellybean Jam. The afternoon lineup includes a mix of 60s rock ‘n’ roll and swing music with the band Swift Kick. Festivalgoers can expect a vibrant atmosphere, hosted by Jenifer Green of G’day Hollywood Productions, ensuring a fun-filled day for all attendees.

With more than 100 stalls featuring delicious food, chilled wines, and cocktails, the festival will also showcase the renowned Sydney Rocks oyster farmers selling their fresh produce. Attendees can enjoy a variety of options, including cold ales from Six Strings Brewing Company.

Transportation options include ample parking at the railway station commuter car park and the council car park adjacent to the stadium. A shuttle bus will provide convenient transport from Deepwater Plaza to the railway station, wharf, and Lions Park.
