The city of Costa Mesa will soon add a unique flavor to its culinary landscape with the opening of Sandoitchi, a Japanese sandwich concept. Scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2026, this will be Sandoitchi’s second permanent location, reinforcing its growing popularity across the United States. The restaurant will be situated at 562 W. 19th St., marking a significant milestone for the brand.
Originally founded in 2020 in Dallas, Sandoitchi has gained widespread recognition for its inventive approach to Japanese cuisine. The brand has captured the attention of food enthusiasts through numerous pop-up events nationwide, including high-profile appearances at venues such as Coachella and the State Fair of Texas. The brand’s ability to adapt and thrive during the pandemic has contributed to its rapid expansion and dedicated following.
Founder Keith Tran expressed his enthusiasm for the new location, stating, “Though we’re based in Texas, Orange County has always felt like a second home for Sandoitchi since we’ve been part of so many events across Southern California over the past several years. Having a permanent flagship space here is truly a dream come true, and we’re excited to join and contribute to the thriving, diverse, and dynamic food scene in OC.” This sentiment reflects the brand’s commitment to engaging with local communities and enhancing the regional culinary scene.
The new Costa Mesa establishment will feature an expansive 1,800-square-foot space, with operating hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Orange County Health Department recently completed multiple plan reviews, granting Sandoitchi the necessary approvals to commence construction.
As the opening date approaches, the anticipation among local food lovers is palpable. Sandoitchi’s unique offerings are expected to attract a diverse clientele, eager to experience the innovative flavors that have made the brand a sensation in various regions. The launch in Costa Mesa signifies a notable addition to the city’s vibrant food culture, promising to deliver a new and exciting dining option for residents and visitors alike.
