Infini Resources has commenced its phase two drilling program at the Portland Creek uranium project, located in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The initiative encompasses a 2,500-metre drilling campaign targeting up to 12 priority sites along a corridor exceeding six kilometres, marked by significant uranium-in-soil anomalies.
With the arrival of its geological team and drilling equipment, Infini Resources has set the stage for extensive exploration. The team has already completed initial site mapping and sampling to optimize drill hole placements, enhancing the chances of successful outcomes. Infini’s chief executive officer, Rohan Bone, expressed optimism about the potential of this drilling phase, stating, “Phase two drilling at Portland Creek marks the beginning of what we believe could be a breakthrough campaign for Infini.”
Significant discoveries were made last year at Portland Creek, where anomalies revealed uranium oxide concentrations reaching up to 74,997 parts per million (ppm). These extraordinary results, which exceeded the original laboratory testing limits, were verified by resubmission to a different lab, resulting in a surge of interest and a notable increase in Infini’s stock value.
Exploration Details and Historical Context
Portland Creek covers a substantial area of 149 square kilometres situated within the Precambrian Long-Range Complex of the Humber Tectonic-Stratigraphic Zone. This area is known for its extensive uranium anomalies, first recognized in the 1970s during a Newfoundland government lake sediment sampling initiative. Historical and recent explorations have defined a six-kilometre zone of anomalous uranium and radon gas, primarily identified through lake sediments and airborne radiometric surveys.
The exploration work has revealed a distinct fault scarp indicative of a granitic plateau, which is believed to play a crucial role in uranium accumulation. Infini’s focus on the Falls Lake prospect has yielded a high-grade zone measuring 800 metres by 100 metres, contributing to the impressive grades observed last year. Notably, a separate southern zone of high-grade soil samples was identified 1.5 kilometres from the initial drilling site, recording peak values of 1,500 ppm uranium oxide.
Bone emphasized the strategic importance of this drilling program, asserting that the methodical approach has identified multiple high-potential uranium targets ready for exploration. The company is committed to delivering meaningful results for its shareholders as it embarks on this ambitious drilling endeavor.
Future Prospects and Additional Exploration Initiatives
In addition to the Portland Creek drilling program, Infini announced the launch of a maiden field exploration effort at its Reynolds Lake uranium project, located in the renowned Athabasca Basin. This systematic exploration will incorporate soil and rock chip sampling to follow up on numerous high-priority targets identified through a combination of historical data and modern geophysical surveys.
The Reynolds Lake project, acquired earlier this year, spans 386 square kilometres and is strategically positioned within proximity to multiple high-grade uranium mines. Infini plans to collect up to 1,600 samples from this exploration program, aiming to advance the most promising areas to drill-ready status for a potential phase one drilling program next year.
Management highlighted that regional airborne radiometric surveys have indicated distinct uranium channel responses associated with fault structures. The results from a high-resolution time-domain electromagnetic survey suggest that several large-scale electrical conductors coincide with geochemical and radiometric anomalies, indicating potential zones of mineralization.
The outcomes of these explorations could significantly impact Infini’s positioning within the uranium market. As the company continues its focused efforts on uranium exploration, any significant discoveries may attract increased attention from investors, further solidifying Infini Resources as a key player in the sector.
With an ambitious exploration strategy in place, Infini Resources is poised for potential breakthroughs that could define its future in the uranium market. The upcoming months will be crucial as the company navigates this pivotal phase in its operations.
