A new brewery has officially opened in downtown Phoenix, bringing a unique twist to the local craft beer scene. Formation Brewing, located at 925 Fifth Street, celebrated its grand opening on November 8. This establishment, developed by Wilding Brands, aims to serve as a community gathering space while showcasing beers inspired by the flavors and culture of Arizona.
With a focus on creating connections, Formation Brewing is more than just a place to enjoy a drink. According to CEO Eric Foster, “Formation Brewing is more than a place to grab a pint – it’s a place to connect. We’ve poured intention into every detail, and we’re proud to share this space with the Roosevelt Row community.” The brewery features a vibrant atmosphere designed for both socializing and community events, including local art shows.
Community-Centric Design and Celebratory Launch
The grand opening festivities featured live music, giveaways, and a diverse selection of food and beverages, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the celebratory mood. The brewery boasts a spacious 10,000-square-foot layout, complete with a sunken central seating area and a 19-tank brewhouse that offers patrons a glimpse into the brewing process.
Formation Brewing also includes a dining area, a bar, and a lounge for private events. The outdoor patio is equipped with fire pits and large-screen televisions, making it an inviting space for year-round gatherings.
Innovative Beers and a Flavorful Menu
Head brewer Sam Townsend leads the brewery’s creative beer program, which is centered around a selection of Arizona-inspired brews. Townsend, who has previously won gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival, emphasizes the distinct flavors of the Southwest in his craft beer lineup.
In addition to the beer offerings, Formation Brewing features a modern kitchen that highlights locally inspired dishes. The menu includes a variety of shareable plates, bowls, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and Detroit-style pizzas. Notable items include smoked elote dip, chicken wings, and crispy dessert tanglers. Health-conscious options, such as a smoked jalapeno Caesar salad and a quinoa power bowl, are also available to complement the brewery’s beverage selections.
