A new coffee shop, Desert Kid Coffee, is set to open its doors in Palm Desert by the end of December 2023. The establishment will occupy a site at 44850 San Pablo Avenue, which is currently undergoing renovations led by Orr Builders. The shop’s co-founder, Katie Reed, a native of the Coachella Valley, confirmed the anticipated launch date in an interview with What Now OC.

The property, which has a history dating back to its construction in 1955, encompasses a space of 5,402 square feet. It is located in the retail corridor along San Pablo Avenue, an area that recently benefited from an $8.5 million investment aimed at enhancing local businesses. As of this week, a construction fence has been erected around the site, with work expected to conclude by mid-November 2023, paving the way for an operational coffee shop by December.

Reed, who began her career in Palm Desert at local establishments such as Outback Steakhouse and Mikado Sushi Japanese Restaurant, expressed excitement about returning to her roots after a decade-long career in the tech and healthcare sectors. Her journey has equipped her with valuable experience, which she plans to channel into this new venture.

With 10 dedicated parking spots available, Desert Kid Coffee aims to provide a welcoming environment for both locals and visitors. The focus will be on crafting quality coffee and fostering a sense of community, reflecting Reed’s commitment to her hometown.

As Palm Desert continues to evolve and adapt, the addition of Desert Kid Coffee signifies not only a new business but also a step towards revitalizing the area’s retail landscape. Residents and coffee enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating the new establishment’s arrival, which promises to enrich the local culture and economy.
