Roul’s Deli, a well-known establishment in southern Louisiana, is expanding its reach with plans to open a new location in Lafayette. Currently operating successful outlets in Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish, the deli has cultivated a loyal customer base by offering freshly made burgers and comfort food that resonate with local tastes.
New Location Set for Fall 2026
The new Lafayette location, situated at 2201 Johnston St., is expected to open in fall 2026. According to co-owner Hesham Saymeh, who runs the deli with his sister Sara Saymeh, the decision to enter the Lafayette market stems from a desire to connect with the vibrant community known for its rich culinary scene. “We believe Lafayette and the area around it have some of the best food, not just in the state but in the country,” Saymeh remarked.
The Saymeh family, now in its second generation of ownership, credits their growth to a strong social media presence. This platform has allowed them to engage more meaningfully with their customers, shaping their menu offerings based on community preferences. “Getting in touch with the community, understanding what they like, and developing a relationship with our customers has been very big,” Saymeh added.
Menu Highlights and Future Plans
Roul’s Deli is recognized for its diverse menu, featuring burgers topped with unique ingredients such as shrimp, crawfish, and house-made jalapeno sauce. In addition to burgers, the deli serves pita sandwiches and classic po-boys, appealing to a wide range of tastes.
As the business looks to establish its footprint in Lafayette, the owners are also considering potential future locations in the region. Saymeh indicated that any expansion would be approached with careful consideration, particularly regarding the suitability of locations. “If the right opportunities arise and pass strict scrutiny, we could establish additional locations,” he noted.
The decision to occupy the site at 2201 Johnston St. has been in the works for several years. “This specific piece of property, we’ve been eyeing for two to three years, and we finally pulled the trigger on it,” Saymeh explained. The owners are enthusiastic about becoming part of the Lafayette community and contributing to its culinary landscape.
In summary, Roul’s Deli’s planned expansion reflects a commitment to quality food and community engagement. As the new location prepares to welcome customers in fall 2026, the Saymeh family looks forward to sharing their passion for food with a broader audience in Louisiana.
