sodough-square-expands-to-st-petersburg-with-detroit-style-pizza

SoDough Square Pizza, a venture founded by entrepreneur Robert Blair, is set to expand its footprint in Florida by opening a new location in St. Petersburg. Known for its distinctive Detroit-style pizza, the chain currently operates three outlets in Orlando and Winter Park. The new establishment will mark SoDough Square’s entry into the Tampa Bay market, with plans submitted for a site at 6925 Fourth St N.

The announcement comes as the restaurant brand gains popularity for its unique offerings, including signature pizzas such as the Detroit Rob City, which features a blend of Detroit red sauce, pinched sausage, Ezzo cup pepperoni, whipped ricotta, hot honey, and fresh basil. Another favorite, the Woodward White, combines Alfredo sauce with a brick cheese blend, red onion, diced tomato, pecorino Romano, and fresh basil. The menu also includes the P.B.J. pizza—an inventive mix of pineapple, bacon, and jalapeno.

SoDough Square prides itself on using authentic techniques and high-quality ingredients. According to the company’s website, the pizzas are baked in traditional blue steel pans imported from Michigan, which contribute to the pizzas’ unique texture and flavor. The restaurant emphasizes that every ingredient is crafted in-house, including their proprietary Stanislaus tomato sauce and a specially shredded brick cheese blend.

The standout feature of a Detroit-style pizza is the “frico,” a caramelized cheese crust that adds to the dish’s signature taste. As the company states, “We take great care to use only the finest, freshest, and most flavorful ingredients, ensuring an exceptional culinary experience.”

In an effort to gather more information about the St. Petersburg location, What Now reached out to Blair for comments regarding the opening timeline and other details. As of now, he has not provided a response.
