Amazon MGM Studios has announced that the release date for Anne Hathaway‘s highly anticipated film Verity has been postponed. Initially scheduled to premiere on May 15, 2026, fans of the adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s best-selling thriller will now have to wait until October 2, 2026 to see the film.

Plot Overview and Cast Details

Verity, directed by Michael Showalter, stars Hathaway alongside Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett. The story follows writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is given the unique opportunity to complete the final three novels in a beloved book series after the original author, Verity Crawford, is rendered unable to write due to medical issues stemming from a car accident.

As Lowen moves into Verity’s home to review her notes, she uncovers haunting revelations. Verity has been largely unresponsive since the accident, and Lowen learns that Verity’s twin daughters died shortly after the incident. These discoveries complicate matters as Lowen finds herself drawn to Verity’s husband, Jeremy. An autobiographical manuscript she discovers reveals dark secrets about Verity’s life, further entangling Lowen in a web of intrigue.

More Adaptations of Hoover’s Novels

The film is part of a growing trend of adaptations of Colleen Hoover‘s novels, following the success of last year’s It Ends With Us. Recently, actress Maika Monroe was cast in another adaptation titled Reminders of Him, which Hoover co-wrote the screenplay for. Directed by Vanessa Caswill, this film tells the story of Kenna Rowan, who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a tragic accident, seeking to reunite with her daughter amidst local resistance.

Additionally, Regretting You, based on Hoover’s 2019 novel, will feature a cast including Allison Williams, Scott Eastwood, Dave Franco, Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, and Willa Fitzgerald. This story focuses on the complex relationship between a mother, Morgan Grant, and her teenage daughter, Clara, exploring themes of grief and first love.

The delay of Verity adds to the anticipation surrounding both the film and Hoover’s growing presence in the cinematic landscape. As adaptations continue to emerge, fans can look forward to exploring the emotional depth and thrilling narratives that Hoover’s work brings to the screen.
