Renowned artist and jeweller Bradley Pike is set to unveil his inaugural retrospective solo exhibition at The Garage Gallery in Mullumbimby from March 15 to March 17, 2024. The exhibition will run daily from 16:00 to 20:00 or by appointment. It showcases Pike’s extensive work, which reflects over 45 years of creative achievements across multiple disciplines, including architecture and fine arts.

Pike, who gained fame through his work with Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, Spain, has established a notable career. His pieces have been commissioned for significant commercial and private collections worldwide, spanning regions such as Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. This exhibition marks a significant highlight in his artistic journey, coinciding with his sixth performance at Kinky Drawers, hosted at the Brunswick Picture House.

The showcase features a vibrant collection of recent oil paintings, drawings, and figurative works. These pieces are characterized by their rich colors and dynamic movement, illustrating intertwined bodies and faces. Many artworks are based on over 120 life-model poses, emphasizing the complexity of emotions and the varying perceptions shaped by personal interactions.

Pike’s creations delve into themes of contemplation, desire, and joy. They explore the necessity for continual movement, both physically and mentally, to avoid stagnation in thoughts and actions. Using a blend of realistic and abstract styles, his work invites viewers to engage deeply, prompting reflection on the emotional layers and consequences of their choices.

In addition to celebrating his artistic contributions, proceeds from the exhibition will fund Pike’s future initiatives. These include establishing an affordable art gallery for local artists in Upper Main Arm and a floating art school aimed at supporting orphans from remote villages in Raja Ampat, located in Western Papua. The projects are designed to foster creativity and provide opportunities for artistic growth within these communities.

For those interested in attending, The Garage Gallery is located at 4 Burringbar Street, Mullumbimby.
