Nagi Maehashi, known for her popular food blog RecipeTin Eats, has shared the heartbreaking news of her dog, Dozer Maehashi’s, passing. The announcement came on Sunday, with Maehashi revealing that her beloved pet succumbed to complications from a lung infection. “He didn’t make it. My heart is shattered,” she expressed in a social media post that featured an emotional video highlighting cherished moments with Dozer.
Dozer, who was nearly 14 years old, had been battling health issues in recent weeks. Two weeks prior to his death, Maehashi disclosed that he was in intensive care due to a lung infection that had tragically spread to both lungs. In her heartfelt message, she stated, “Dozer has been in ICU since Thursday. Given his existing medical condition (laryngeal paralysis / neurological degradation) and age, I’ve been and will continue to be by his side every minute I can.”
Maehashi praised the staff at SASH Veterinary Hospital in North Ryde, where Dozer received treatment, expressing her gratitude for the exceptional care provided. “I can’t speak highly enough of the women and men who work here,” she noted, acknowledging the dedication of the veterinary team.
In light of Dozer’s deteriorating condition, Maehashi decided to take a break from posting recipes to spend precious time with her dog. “My sweet boy has been fighting hard, but the gut-wrenching truth is that we are in the final chapter of Life of Dozer,” she shared in a video to her followers.
Tributes have poured in from the online community following Maehashi’s announcement. Author Yumi Stynes expressed her condolences with a simple message: “Sorry, Nagi-san.” Fellow food blogger Sneh Roy offered heartfelt support, saying, “Oh, Nagi, I am so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.”
Dozer was not just a pet; he played an integral role in Maehashi’s life and her work. The charming dog often appeared in her posts and was featured in her popular cookbook, RecipeTin Eats: Dinner. His presence brought joy to many, and he will be fondly remembered by her fans and followers.
As Maehashi navigates this profound loss, the community stands united in support, sending love and strength during this difficult time.
