Dozer, who was nearly 14 years old, had been battling health issues in recent weeks. Two weeks prior to his death, Maehashi disclosed that he was in intensive care due to a lung infection that had tragically spread to both lungs. In her heartfelt message, she stated, “Dozer has been in ICU since Thursday. Given his existing medical condition (laryngeal paralysis / neurological degradation) and age, I’ve been and will continue to be by his side every minute I can.”
Maehashi praised the staff at SASH Veterinary Hospital in North Ryde, where Dozer received treatment, expressing her gratitude for the exceptional care provided. “I can’t speak highly enough of the women and men who work here,” she noted, acknowledging the dedication of the veterinary team.
In light of Dozer’s deteriorating condition, Maehashi decided to take a break from posting recipes to spend precious time with her dog. “My sweet boy has been fighting hard, but the gut-wrenching truth is that we are in the final chapter of Life of Dozer,” she shared in a video to her followers.
