The 125th Annual Berrigan Show will take place on October 5, 2025, featuring a significant highlight—the presence of the prestigious Lexus Melbourne Cup. This iconic trophy, valued at $850,000 and made of solid Australian gold, is part of its annual tour that spans from New York to Normanton. The visit is made possible through the support of the Berrigan & District Race Club.

According to Kylie Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of the Victoria Racing Club, “the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour is one of the most significant ways we can share the excitement and legacy of the Lexus Melbourne Cup with communities across Australia and beyond.” Attendees of the Berrigan Show will have the unique opportunity to see, hold, and take photographs with the trophy, which last visited the town almost two decades ago.

This milestone event promises to be memorable, as noted by Lyndall Horne, Secretary of the Berrigan Show Society. The show will incorporate a variety of racing-themed attractions in celebration of the cup’s visit. Highlights include hobby horse races, a spring racing hat parade, Off-the-Track Equestrian classes featuring retired racehorses, and numerous Melbourne Cup-inspired competitions across the Pavilion classes.

With a sunny forecast for the day, the Berrigan Show is anticipated to be a fun-filled event for families. The official opening ceremony will take place at 12:30 PM, led by Cassandra Bush, the Young Woman representing the Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW, followed by the presentation of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.

In addition to traditional competitions, attendees can look forward to family-friendly entertainment, including sideshow alley, the popular scarecrow decorating contest, the beloved Hay Ho Animal Nursery, free face painting from Cheeky Smiles Face Painting, live performances from local musicians, a Kidz Zone, a Children’s Pet Parade, and Junior Show Goers.

Neville Dalgliesh, President of the Berrigan Show Society, expressed gratitude towards the committee, community, and volunteers for their dedication in organizing the event. “I would like to once again thank all our wonderful sponsors. Without their generous support, we would not be able to run our show,” he stated.

Entry fees for the show are set at $15 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children aged 10 to 16, while children under 10 can enter for free. Membership tickets can be acquired from the Berrigan Show Office at the Showgrounds until Friday at 5 PM. Every attendee will also receive an entry ticket for the Lucky Gate Prize, with the winner receiving a premium cabin for two nights at Kismet Riverside Lodge in Howlong.

Now in its 23rd year, the tour has covered over one million kilometers and visited more than 670 destinations, including schools and healthcare facilities. It has engaged in more than 2,200 community events and raised substantial funds for local charities.

In a charitable initiative, the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep allocates a barrier for the cup to 24 rural and regional towns. Representatives from these towns will be invited to Melbourne to watch the race live, with the winning town receiving a cash prize to support a local charity. The Berrigan & District Race Club has nominated Horse Aid for this initiative.
