Couple Clare Hockings and Brad Jones, who captured hearts on the reality series Farmer Wants A Wife, have announced their engagement. The couple, who fell in love during the show’s thirteenth season in 2023, shared their joyful news on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in their relationship.
Since the conclusion of the show, Hockings and Jones have strengthened their bond. Hockings relocated to Jones’s farm in Cootamundra, NSW, and they welcomed their first child shortly after the series aired. Recently, they revealed that they are expecting their second child, which will add to their family dynamic with two children under the age of two.
In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Hockings expressed her excitement about the engagement but also acknowledged the challenges ahead. “We haven’t had a moment to think about a wedding yet, with baby number two due in the next few weeks,” she explained. “The idea of planning a wedding is quite overwhelming, too, so I think we’ll just enjoy being engaged for a while.”
Future Wedding Plans and Show Success
While many couples from Farmer Wants A Wife have returned to the show to document their weddings, Hockings indicated that she and Jones might take a different approach. Earlier in the year, she stated, “We definitely have a bit of a plan and a bit of a rough idea of what we want to do and how we want to do it. It would definitely be on the farm, for sure.”
Hockings and Jones are part of one of the most successful seasons of the show, which has become a staple of Australian reality television since its debut in 2007. The show’s success is highlighted by the establishment of 11 marriages, 11 long-term relationships, and the birth of 27 children.
Their co-stars from the same season, David McMahon and Emily Gordon, have announced their engagement in October 2023 and tied the knot shortly after, giving fans a glimpse of their wedding day in this year’s season finale. Additionally, Matt Young and Olivia Benic surprised viewers by revealing in August 2024 that they had welcomed their first child in secret.
As Hockings and Jones prepare for their growing family, they join a select group of successful couples from the show, continuing to showcase love and commitment in a format that has resonated with audiences across Australia and beyond.
