DUBAI—Emirates Airline made a significant return to the Paris Air Show on June 17, 2025, marking its first participation in the prestigious event in over 15 years. The world’s largest international airline showcased its latest Airbus A350 aircraft at Le Bourget, France, during the 55th edition of the International Paris Air Show, which continues until June 19.

The centerpiece of Emirates’ exhibition was the A350, featuring next-generation cabin design and cutting-edge interior technologies. This aircraft accommodates passengers across three cabin classes, including 32 next-generation Business Class lie-flat seats, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 259 Economy Class seats. Visitors were able to experience Emirates’ enhanced cabin offerings, which include increased storage space, extra-high ceilings, and wider aisles throughout all travel classes. The aircraft also demonstrates the airline’s latest in-flight entertainment system, providing cinematic viewing experiences alongside enhanced cabin lighting, faster Wi-Fi connectivity, and improved seat ergonomics.

Executive Statements and Strategic Importance

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, emphasized the significance of the airline’s return to France’s premier aerospace exhibition. Clark stated that participating in the Paris Air Show demonstrates Emirates’ commitment to supporting France’s aviation industry through daily operations and ongoing investments across the aerospace supply chain. He highlighted the platform’s importance as one of the most significant aerospace exhibitions globally.

Emirates currently operates extensive services to France, maintaining 21 weekly flights to Paris, including three daily Airbus A380 services. The airline provides daily A380 service to Nice and daily A350 flights to Lyon. Emirates holds the distinction of being the first and only international airline operating A380 aircraft to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

Investments and Economic Impact

Since beginning operations in 1985, Emirates has invested significantly in France’s aviation sector. The airline has committed over €114 billion (US$130 billion) to purchase 254 Airbus aircraft, supporting thousands of jobs at major French aerospace companies, including Airbus, Safran, and Thales.

In 2023, Emirates announced substantial contracts with French suppliers worth over €1.0 billion (US$1.14 billion) combined. The agreements include a €896 million (US$1.0 billion) contract for Safran Seats covering Emirates’ new Airbus A350, Boeing 777X-9, and existing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fleets. Additionally, the airline invested over €322 million (US$367.5 million) in Thales’ AVANT Up system for its A350 aircraft.

“Emirates maintains strategic partnerships with French manufacturers, sourcing Michelin tires, Safran aircraft components and seating systems, and Thales avionics equipment. France serves as Emirates’ top global source for wine procurement, with Bordeaux wine comprising 58% of red wine consumed in Emirates’ First and Business Class cabins.”

Future Prospects and Economic Contributions

Emirates contributes over €189 million (US$215 million) annually to the French economy through operational expenditures, including fuel purchases, overflight charges, catering services, landing fees, crew accommodations, and advertising investments. Emirates SkyCargo operates weekly cargo rotations connecting Dubai World Central, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Lyon Saint-Exupery airports, supporting trade between the UAE and France, which represents France’s largest Middle Eastern export partner.

The airline expects its A350 fleet to serve 17 destinations by year-end, having welcomed seven A350 aircraft, with 58 additional units scheduled for delivery over the coming years. This expansion aligns with Emirates’ strategy to enhance its global network and strengthen its position in key international markets.

As Emirates continues to expand its fleet and services, the airline’s participation in the Paris Air Show underscores its commitment to innovation and collaboration within the global aviation industry. The return to this prestigious event not only highlights Emirates’ technological advancements but also its dedication to fostering long-term partnerships with key players in the aerospace sector.
