Fans of the cancelled series Our Flag Means Death can now acquire memorabilia from the show through an online auction hosted by Heritage Auctions. The auction features props and costumes from the queer pirate comedy created by David Jenkins and starring Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi. This event is part of the broader HBO Mashup auction, which also includes items from popular series such as Barry, Big Little Lies, and Perry Mason.
Among the highlights available for bidding are “Wanted” posters for the character Blackbeard, along with an array of pirate swords, daggers, and pistols. Notably, the auction includes the mermaid tail worn by Stede Bonnet, portrayed by Darby, during a pivotal dream sequence in Season 2. Various costume pieces are also featured, including Stede’s ornate coats and Blackbeard’s leather battle attire. As of now, several lots are starting at just $1, while the most sought-after item is the wedding toppers of Stede and Blackbeard from Season 2, currently valued at over $1,000. The auction will close on August 23, 2025.
Community Engagement and Previous Fundraisers
The auction is not the first time fans of Our Flag Means Death have come together for a cause related to the series. In February and March 2025, they organized the Our Flag Means Death craft fair, a 19-day event that successfully raised $105,000 for the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Trans Youth Emergency Project. This initiative featured fan-created items, including embroidery and jewelry, alongside unique donations from the show’s cast and crew. Notably, Jenkins contributed a teapot from the series, while Waititi donated a prop he had doodled on during filming.
The ongoing interest in memorabilia from Our Flag Means Death highlights the show’s enduring popularity and the strong connection between its creators, cast, and dedicated fanbase. As the auction approaches its end, many fans are eager to snag a piece of the series that has left a lasting mark on queer representation in television.
