Kyle Sandilands has publicly apologised to his long-time co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, expressing his devastation over the potential end of their partnership. This statement comes following a series of events that led to Henderson’s departure from the $200 million Kyle and Jackie O Show, broadcast on Kiis FM.

In a detailed statement released on March 5, 2024, Sandilands revealed that he was instructed by the Australian Radio Network (ARN), the show’s parent company, not to contact Henderson or his colleagues after her exit on March 3. He stated that ARN terminated Henderson’s contract on the same day he was suspended for two weeks amid allegations of “serious misconduct.”

Details of the Dispute and Apology

According to Sandilands, their fallout began during a live broadcast on February 20, when he confronted Henderson about ongoing issues. “I said things I wish I had said differently,” he explained. That evening, he reached out to Henderson to express his remorse, stating, “I love her and care for her, and that I could have handled it better.” Sandilands highlighted the significance of their collaboration over the past 25 years, noting, “The idea that our partnership could end like this is devastating to me.”

Henderson responded on March 6, rejecting suggestions that she had resigned. “I did not quit or resign. This has come as a shock to me, as it has to everyone else,” she stated, contradicting ARN’s earlier claims that she had given notice to leave due to her inability to work with Sandilands.

ARN’s official statement indicated that Henderson’s contract was terminated due to her decision to step away from the show. The company also communicated to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) that the breakfast program was taken off the air due to the allegations against Sandilands.

Sandilands’ Commitment to the Show

Sandilands emphasised his commitment to his contract with ARN, which is set to run until 2034. He asserted that he was not in breach of his contract, despite ARN’s position. “I want to be on air. I want to be with my audience. I want to do the job I have done my entire adult life,” he stated, urging ARN to allow him to return to broadcasting.

He also expressed frustration over the restrictions placed on him during this tumultuous time, stating, “I did what was asked and refrained from speaking to Henderson, even though it made it impossible for me to do the one thing anyone in my position would want to do – pick up the phone and talk to the person I have been talking with continually for my entire career.”

Sandilands acknowledged that their relationship had faced challenges in the past but believed they could have resolved this issue without external intervention. “We never needed lawyers or ASX announcements to sort things out. I believe we could have sorted this out too, if ARN had given us the chance,” he said.

The future of the Kyle and Jackie O Show remains uncertain, as the fallout from this incident continues to unfold. ARN has not yet provided further comment on the situation. As fans await clarity, both Sandilands and Henderson have expressed their deep disappointment over the potential end of a long-standing partnership.
