Vanderpump Rules alum Lala Kent, 34, has revealed her plans to expand her family once more, just ten months after the birth of her second daughter, Sosa. In an interview with Parents magazine published on July 3, Kent shared her intentions to get pregnant within the next year. Kent, who also has a four-year-old daughter, Ocean, with ex Randall Emmett, expressed her enthusiasm for motherhood, stating, “I feel like we sunk right into this new dynamic. It is so fulfilling and it’s difficult, but we’re a well-oiled machine.”
Kent’s journey into motherhood has been marked by both joy and challenges. After conceiving Sosa via a sperm donor, she has embraced the complexities of raising two young children. “I just don’t think I’m done. I think I need one more. I am loving it so much that I’m not ready for the stages to be over as they pass,” she explained. Kent hopes to have her third child when Sosa is “well into her 2s,” aiming for a closer age gap than the three and a half years between Ocean and Sosa.
Family Dynamics and Future Plans
Reflecting on the dynamics between her daughters, Kent noted Ocean’s natural adaptation to her role as a big sister. “She’s really taken on the role of being a big sister. Ocean is only 4, but she’s always seemed like an old soul and just wise beyond her years,” Kent shared. Ocean’s enthusiasm for helping with Sosa has been a source of pride for Kent, who described it as “adorable to watch.”
Despite the challenges of co-parenting with Emmett, Kent remains focused on creating a stable environment for Ocean. “Ocean was so young when she had to start bouncing back and forth, so it’s just very much a part of her norm. She knows that she always comes back to this house,” Kent explained. Ocean recently completed her first year of preschool, where she was described as happy, healthy, and thriving.
Navigating Co-Parenting Challenges
Kent’s relationship with Emmett has been tumultuous, marked by public ups and downs since they went public in 2018. The couple called off their engagement in November 2021 amid infidelity rumors, leading to a custody battle that concluded earlier this year. “After over three years, we have signed an agreement that is best for our daughter, Ocean. So I’m very, very happy about that,” Kent shared during an Amazon Live session in March.
The custody battle, Kent admitted, “has weighed on [her] heart and soul” for some time. She expressed relief at reaching a resolution that prioritizes Ocean’s well-being. “I’m sure it’s been the same for my ex, and I’m just so happy that we were able to get to a good place for the well-being of our kid,” she added.
Focusing on Family Over Romance
While Kent is open to expanding her family, she remains cautious about re-entering the dating scene. “I like to say I’ve been talking to men because dating means that there’s a potential for it to go somewhere. And I just don’t want that right now,” she noted in her conversation with Parents magazine. Kent’s priority remains her children, as she explained the emotional toll dating could take. “If my heart gets involved and you do something to make it hurt, you will take me mentally away from my children,” she stated.
Kent recalled the period when Ocean was just seven months old, and she was embroiled in conflict with Emmett. “Ocean was 7 months old when I was taken away from her emotionally, spiritually, physically — all the things — because I was in fight mode [with my ex]. I will not allow it to happen again.”
As Kent continues to navigate the complexities of motherhood and co-parenting, she remains committed to her family’s future, embracing the challenges and joys that come with raising her daughters.
