Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise his iconic role as Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk, in the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This news marks an exciting development in the Marvel cinematic universe, as he joins Tom Holland, who will return as Spider-Man. The announcement comes from The Hollywood Reporter, confirming Ruffalo’s involvement in the sequel.
In addition to Ruffalo and Holland, familiar faces will return to the franchise. Michael Mando will reprise his role as the villainous Scorpion, while Jon Bernthal will return as the vigilante Punisher. The film promises to bring back a dynamic cast, further enhancing its appeal to fans.
Holland recently expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the Spider-Man universe, particularly after the challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions during the filming of Spider-Man: No Way Home, released in 2021. He stated in an interview with Flip Your Wig that the previous film had limitations due to health protocols, which confined the production largely to studio sets.
“This time, we are really going to lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations,” Holland remarked. He specifically mentioned that the streets of Glasgow will serve as a significant backdrop for a major set piece in the film.
Holland described the experience of playing Peter Parker and Spider-Man as akin to “hanging out with an old pal.” He anticipates that filming Spider-Man 4 will evoke similar feelings to when they created Spider-Man: Homecoming, released in 2017. “It’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s going to feel like a breath of fresh air,” he added. Holland believes fans will be thrilled with what the team is developing.
Joining the cast is Zendaya, who will reprise her role as MJ, along with Jacob Batalon, returning as Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned. Newcomer Sadie Sink has also been cast, though details about her character remain undisclosed.
As anticipation builds for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fans are eager to see how the return of these beloved characters will enhance the storyline and the overall cinematic experience. With a blend of returning favorites and new talent, the film looks poised to capture the excitement that has made the Spider-Man franchise a staple in modern cinema.
