Award-winning Noongar-Wongi hip-hop performers Flewnt and Inkabee will headline the City of Cockburn’s 26th annual Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair on October 26, 2023. The event promises a vibrant atmosphere and a platform for these talented musicians, who have gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
Josh Eggington, known as rapper Flewnt, first made waves when his single Kya Kyana was named the WA Music song of the year in 2018. His subsequent track, Black Boy, featuring Emily Wurramara, won the 2019 NAIDOC award for best song and hip-hop song. Following closely in his father’s footsteps, Inkabee rose to fame at just 11 years old with his track Beat Yhe Odds, which earned him two WAM award nominations.
The father-and-son duo gained further attention with their collaborative track We Dat Good, which captured the spotlight on America’s Got Talent, where they reached the quarterfinals in 2024. Since then, they have performed at major events across Australia and toured in Canada and the United States.
The Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair will take place at Manning Park from 11:00 to 20:00, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities. The fair will incorporate the FROSH Youth Festival, which this year embraces an Alice In Wonderland theme. Attendees can expect low-cost entertainment, including carnival rides, market stalls, food trucks, and a spectacular light and fire show to conclude the evening.
Free activities during the FROSH Youth Festival, organized by the Cockburn Youth Advisory Collective, will include the Ricochet Circus tent, giant games, glitter tattoos, and a maze, ensuring a fun-filled experience for young visitors.
This annual fair serves as the major fundraising event for the Rotary Club, with proceeds expected to reach up to $18,000. These funds will support local projects within the Cockburn community and contribute to renowned national and international Rotary programs.
Parking for the event will be available for a gold coin donation, with all proceeds directed to the Cockburn Rotary Club. The combination of music, entertainment, and community support promises to make this year’s fair a memorable occasion for all attendees.
