Priscilla Presley recently shared her thoughts on the enduring legacy of her former husband, Elvis Presley, during an interview with HELLO! Magazine. She believes that if he were alive today, he would still be actively touring and performing. Elvis, known as the “King of Rock and Roll,” passed away on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42, but Priscilla feels his passion for music would have kept him on stage.

Reflecting on Elvis’s potential continued career, Priscilla noted, “I think he’d be doing the same thing in life – singing and touring. He loved it.” This sentiment underscores the deep connection she maintains to his musical legacy, even decades after his passing.

Writing a Memoir: A Journey of Memories

In addition to her reflections on Elvis, Priscilla has penned a new memoir detailing their shared experiences. The process was not without its challenges, as she recounted reliving both the joyful and difficult moments of their time together. “It took me a while to finish it up – more than 11 months. You remember a lot of things, and it was a good thing, to be honest. A lot of remembering wonderful times and difficult times – and you’re reliving your life,” she explained.

Priscilla and Elvis were married for six years, from 1967 to 1973. Despite their divorce, she emphasized the enduring friendship that characterized their relationship. “We always remained friendly and would still get together,” she recalled. Their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, played a significant role in maintaining that bond, as Priscilla made a point to bring her to see Elvis perform and ensure they spent quality time together.

Fond Memories Amidst Challenges

Priscilla’s memories of Elvis are colored by both affection and nostalgia. She mentioned the extensive time Lisa Marie spent with her father at Graceland, highlighting how important those moments were for their family. “He (was) fun to be with,” she said, reflecting on the joy that Elvis brought into their lives.

As Elvis would have turned 91 this month, Priscilla’s reflections serve as a reminder of his lasting impact on music and culture, as well as the personal connections that defined his life. Through her memoir, she not only honors his legacy but also offers a glimpse into their shared history, illustrating that love and friendship can endure beyond the complexities of life.
