Australian actor Richard Roxburgh has taken an unexpected turn in his career by featuring in a property advertisement for real estate agency Ray White. The ad, directed by Nash Edgerton, showcases a beachside home in Greenhills Beach, New South Wales, and is designed to highlight the features that most buyers seek in a residence.

In the advertisement titled “No.33 The Movie,” Roxburgh portrays a buyer who is hesitant to leave the idyllic beachside property. He was approached by Ray White after the agency decided to create a unique promotional piece for the home located at 33 Shorebird Parade. Roxburgh expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “I just thought it was a great kind of creative piece of thinking.”

Ray White’s executive director, Todd Alexander, explained that the property was chosen based on data from their NurtureCloud technology. The agency analyzed over 110,000 houses listed for sale between January 1, 2024, and August 25, 2025, to identify the most desirable features among Australian homebuyers. These findings revealed that buyers typically look for a family home with four to five bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office space, and air conditioning, ideally situated near water.

Alexander noted the challenges involved in the project, saying, “There were so many moving pieces. We had to find a property that was suitable and a director that was available to do the video at the same time as [the house] was coming to market.” The inclusion of Roxburgh was seen as the final touch to create something truly special.

The filming process involved a professional crew, with Roxburgh acknowledging the collaboration: “I knew quite a few of them from my life in this business.” Despite his extensive acting experience, he humorously mentioned deferring to stunt professionals for risky scenes, such as one where he jumps off a balcony.

Roxburgh, who has lived in Sydney for most of his adult life, shared his candid thoughts on the challenges of renovating homes, describing it as “the worst thing that’s ever happened in human history.” He recounted his own experiences with renovation, including a significant project that began two years ago when he and his family moved out of their home in Newport.

In a lighter moment, Roxburgh recalled a mishap from the 1990s when a friend accidentally purchased an apartment in Coogee on his behalf while he was overseas. The mix-up left him bewildered and added a humorous twist to his property journey.

The owners of the featured property, Lorraine and Glenn Jackson, were equally excited about the collaboration with Roxburgh. Lorraine, a flight attendant, expressed their surprise and delight at being chosen for the advertisement. “We were absolutely thrilled … that we were chosen,” she said. The couple had designed their home with the help of an architect nearly a decade ago after purchasing the vacant land in 2015 for $1,670,000. The property is currently guided at over $7 million.

The filming took place over two days, with extensive planning and a crew of around 60 people on site. Lorraine described the experience as overwhelming yet exhilarating, stating, “There was Hollywood make-up, lights … it was all happening.”

Glenn added that the advertisement has turned their home into “the star attraction,” showcasing its appeal to potential buyers.

As for Roxburgh, he remains reflective about real estate in Sydney, acknowledging the difficulties that many face in the current market. He noted, “Although, whether my, you know, our poor kids are ever going to be able to be linked to property is a whole other question.”

With this innovative campaign, Ray White aims to capture the attention of homebuyers while showcasing the unique talents of an actor who has become synonymous with diverse and memorable roles in Australian entertainment.
