The incident took place late on Monday evening in a restaurant parking lot where the two were taking photos after midnight.
In a TikTok video, Sami recounted the distressing encounter. “The second I saw this man, I had the worst feeling in my stomach, like get the f*** away from me right now,” she said. While they were outside for approximately five minutes, a man approached them asking for money. Sami responded, “Sorry, I don’t have any cash on me.” Despite her refusal, the man remained persistent.
As the initial interaction concluded, a second man approached them immediately after the first had walked away. Sami described his actions, noting, “He starts to reach into his back pocket and I reach into my purse and pull out my pepper spray.” She added, “I open that b**** and he saw that and he started to pull a card out.” Realizing the potential danger, she and her friend quickly ran to their car and locked themselves inside for safety.
Reflecting on the incident, Sami later reviewed photos taken during their time outside and noted that the man had been “watching us the whole time.” She expressed her concern, stating, “Even if it was harmless, it’s better to be safe than sorry, even though I don’t think he had good intentions at all.”
Sami urged her followers to “trust your gut,” emphasizing the importance of being aware of one’s surroundings. “I’m usually very aware of my surroundings and I didn’t notice this man,” she explained.
The timing of Sami’s revelation coincides with her mother, Denise Richards, being photographed with what appeared to be a black eye. This follows a public altercation with her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. On July 7, 2023, Aaron filed for divorce after what was described as an explosive argument on July 4.
