Sissy Spacek, the acclaimed actress known for her role in *Carrie*, is taking a hiatus from acting to prioritize personal time at home. The 75-year-old star recently featured in the film *Die, My Love*, which also stars Jennifer Lawrence, and made an appearance in Michelle Williams’ television series *Dying for Sex*. Despite her recent projects, Spacek has no upcoming roles lined up and is dedicating time to activities such as gardening and attending a meditation retreat.

In an interview with *Interview* magazine, Spacek shared her reflections on this phase of her life. “I’ve been doing a lot of hard thinking,” she explained. “I know that sounds weird, but I’m at a time in my life where I’m trying to figure out who I am at this age. A happy grandmother.” She highlighted the importance of her recent collaborations, noting, “I worked with people I really wanted to work with. Michelle Williams, Jennifer Lawrence…”

Spacek elaborated on her current focus, revealing her garden became a grounding project after her gardener left during a particularly challenging summer. “My gardener quit in the height of the heat dome this summer, so I had to rescue my garden,” she said. “That was a very grounding thing.” Additionally, she mentioned her recent week-long meditation retreat as a significant contributor to her self-discovery.

Time with Family and Reflection on Success

The actress is also cherishing the moments spent with her husband, production designer and director Jack Fisk, as they navigate their later years together. “We’re all home right now, so it’s a real precious time,” she remarked. “And we’re getting older, my husband and I. We’re elderly for god’s sake.”

Spacek has often credited luck as a significant factor in her successful career, which includes an Academy Award and three Golden Globes. In a previous interview with *The Independent*, she stated, “I know really great artists. And so much of my success has been because I’ve been at the right place at the right time.”

Throughout her illustrious career, Spacek has taken on memorable roles in numerous films, including Terrence Malick‘s *Badlands* and Oliver Stone‘s *JFK*. Despite her accolades, she remains humble about her talent, suggesting that many other actresses possess greater skills. “There are people who are far more talented than me… so many great artists out there who don’t ever get the break,” she added.
