Variety — the Children’s Charity WA is gearing up for its annual 4WD Adventure, scheduled for May 23-31, 2024. This year, the event will take participants on an extraordinary journey through the Pilbara, a region known for its stunning yet remote landscapes. With limited spots available, interest is already high, with over 20 vehicles registered for this unique expedition.
The 2024 trek, titled “Pilbara to Paradise,” offers a fresh experience that diverges from previous events. Participants will navigate a route that begins in Karratha and traverses iconic sites such as Millstream Chichester National Park, the Onslow coastline, the historic township of Onslow, Bullara Station, and concludes at beautiful Coral Bay. Exclusive access to operational pastoral stations will provide a rare glimpse into areas typically off-limits to the public, enhancing the adventure’s appeal.
Chris Chatterton, CEO of Variety WA, highlighted the significance of this year’s event. He noted that last year’s 4WD Adventure successfully raised over $250,000, benefiting four Western Australian schools and providing more than $20,000 in direct school grants. The funds also support vital equipment and programs for children facing illness, disability, or disadvantage.
“This year’s 4WD Adventure is a true expedition into parts of Western Australia most people will never see,” Chatterton stated. He emphasized that the scale, remoteness, and the exclusive access granted to participants elevate this event beyond a typical off-road trip. “The Pilbara demands respect, planning, and access, and that’s exactly what makes this year’s adventure so compelling.”
Participants can expect an entry cost of $330 per vehicle, alongside a participation fee of $1,850 per person. This fee covers meals, entertainment, overnight camping, and essential support services. Additionally, there are minimum fundraising targets, which are tax-deductible, set at $4,000 for newcomers and $6,000 for returning drivers.
Registrations and inquiries for the 4WD Adventure are currently open at varietywa4wd.com.au. This event promises to deliver not only adventure but also a meaningful contribution to the lives of children in need across Western Australia.
