Sunday Music is returning to Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre.
The Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is set to host its much-anticipated Sunday Music series this summer, featuring a vibrant collection of local and international artists. The concert series, which has been a cornerstone of Fremantle’s live music scene since 1981, will take place every Sunday from 14:00 to 16:00, beginning on October 5, 2025, and running through to March 29, 2026, with the exception of December 7, December 21, and December 28.
Fremantle Community Bank has significantly increased its support for the series this year, doubling its sponsorship to ensure a rich musical experience for attendees. Pete Stone, the City of Fremantle’s Director of Creative Arts and Community, expressed enthusiasm for the return of Sunday Music, describing it as an embodiment of the best aspects of Fremantle. “It’s sunny afternoons under the trees in the front garden at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre, with the most diverse range of the best new and established acts you’ll find anywhere in the country,” he stated.
The opening concert will feature Kankawa Nagarra, also known as Olive Knight, an 82-year-old icon of Australian blues, country, and gospel music, alongside musicians ICONYX. To celebrate the launch of the season, a ceramics market will take place on the top lawn, showcasing the work of over 45 artists.
The Sunday Music series not only highlights musical talent but also fosters a sense of community. Debra Rule, Chair of the Fremantle Community Bank, emphasized the event’s family-friendly atmosphere. “It’s a wonderful family-friendly event, supports local artists, and is the perfect place to be on a Sunday afternoon,” she noted.
The line-up includes a diverse array of artists, such as the Los Angeles-based six-piece band Swimming Bell, Little Guilt, singer-songwriter from Mozambique Mahamudo Selimane, Bumpy, Nicholas Allbrook, and Stella Cain. With more acts yet to be announced, music lovers can look forward to an exciting summer filled with a range of genres.
For those interested in attending, additional details about the complete line-up and events can be found on the Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre’s website, wfac.org.au. The café will also be open during the concerts, inviting visitors to enjoy refreshments while taking in the music.
This summer promises to be a vibrant celebration of music and community in Fremantle, making Sunday afternoons a highlight of the week for residents and visitors alike.
