dksh-unveils-whitepaper-series-to-navigate-healthcare-outsourcing-in-apac

DKSH Business Unit Healthcare has launched a three-part whitepaper series aimed at helping healthcare and life science companies understand the evolving landscape of commercial outsourcing in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This initiative, titled “2025 Whitepaper Series on Commercial Go-To-Model Trends,” focuses on industry trends and current market pressures that compel companies to re-evaluate their market strategies.

The whitepaper series highlights how strategic Commercial Outsourcing partnerships are adapting to deliver sustainable growth, operational flexibility, and improved patient access. This approach seeks to leverage the region’s burgeoning USD 10 billion healthcare outsourcing opportunity.

Insights into the Evolving Healthcare Landscape

According to DKSH, the healthcare industry in APAC is rife with challenges, despite its vast potential. While this region encompasses approximately half of the world’s population, it remains significantly underinvested in healthcare. Issues such as fragmented systems, complex regulations, and uneven access to therapies impede progress. Although the pharmaceutical sector outside major markets like China, Japan, and India is projected to grow by around 4% annually until 2027, reaching nearly USD 100 billion, it still lags behind some Western markets.

The first section of the whitepaper series delves into the shortcomings of traditional commercial models in navigating fragmented and cost-sensitive markets. It argues that these models often lead to delayed product launches, hindering patient access to critical therapies. DKSH’s research reveals that 90% of executives in the healthcare sector currently outsource some aspect of their business, with 62% reporting an increase in outsourcing over the past three years.

Rethinking Go-To-Market Strategies

Patrik Grande, Vice President and Head of Commercial Outsourcing for APAC at DKSH, emphasizes the necessity for change: “The APAC healthcare landscape is changing, and our research shows that traditional commercial models are no longer enough to meet the growing demands of patients in our region.” He adds that Commercial Outsourcing offers a strategic solution, facilitating faster market access and compliance excellence rather than merely reducing costs.

The whitepaper series also includes practical guidance on evaluating potential outsourcing partners and identifying which product portfolios and commercial functions yield the greatest value when outsourced. The final segment discusses the governance, capabilities, and digital tools essential for maintaining high-performing partnerships.

The launch event in Singapore attracted nearly 100 regional healthcare leaders, where DKSH experts shared insights and engaged in panel discussions moderated by EY Parthenon. Reuben Ong, Vice President of DKSH in Singapore, remarked on the significance of Commercial Outsourcing: “It is a key enabler for global healthcare companies to expand their products and services into markets faster while addressing crucial factors like pricing and compliance.”

Together, these insights suggest a transformative shift in APAC’s healthcare landscape. Organizations that prioritize stronger partnerships, smarter capabilities, and localized execution are likely to lead the next wave of innovation and access in the region. As DKSH continues to support its partners with the necessary expertise and resources, the potential for sustainable growth across Asia-Pacific appears increasingly attainable.
