Sabine Winton, the Education Minister of Western Australia, has announced the finalists for the 2025 WA Education Awards, showcasing a record number of nominations that highlight the dedication of educators and schools throughout the region. This year’s awards feature a total of 171 nominations, the highest since the awards began in 2008, marking a significant 27 percent increase compared to last year.

The WA Education Awards celebrate the achievements of schools, school leaders, and teachers across eight categories. Notably, two new categories have been introduced this year: the Minister’s Teacher of the Year and Excellence in Early Childhood Education. Each winner will receive a prize of $20,000, while three finalists in each category will benefit from $5,000 towards professional development.

The surge in nominations reflects the vibrant educational community in Western Australia. The Minister’s Teacher of the Year category received the most nominations, indicating a strong recognition of individual educators making impactful contributions in their classrooms.

Finalists represent a diverse range of schools across the state, including:

– Christopher Lambe – Grandis Primary School
– Emmily Deering – North Tom Price Primary School
– Patricia Levitzke-Gray – Shenton College Deaf Education Centre
– Rhianna Reynolds – Mount Barker Community College

A total of 28 schools and four teachers have been named as finalists, further demonstrating the breadth of talent within Western Australia’s education system.
