Employers and workers in Tasmania are urged to prioritize workplace health, safety, and wellbeing this October during WorkSafe Month 2025. The campaign, running throughout the month, emphasizes the theme “Safety: every job, every day,” and features nearly 60 free events aimed at fostering safer and healthier working environments.
As part of the initiative, prominent Tasmanian landmarks, such as the Tasman Bridge, Launceston Town Hall, and the paranaple Centre, will be illuminated in orange. This display serves as a visual reminder of the collective responsibility for ensuring workplace safety and wellbeing.
Guy Barnett, the Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, highlighted the importance of WorkSafe Month in enhancing workplace cultures. He stated, “WorkSafe Month enables workplaces of all sizes and industries to identify and act on opportunities to improve safety and wellbeing.” He emphasized that the campaign aims to transform numbers into personal stories, reflecting the real impact of unsafe working conditions on community members.
Minister Barnett encouraged participants to engage actively and leave with actionable insights they can implement in their own workplaces. “By sharing knowledge and experiences, we can help build stronger and safer workplace cultures,” he noted. The objective extends beyond merely reducing injuries and illnesses; it also seeks to promote a long-term cultural shift where safety and wellbeing are integrated into daily work practices.
WorkSafe Month offers a diverse program that includes both in-person and online sessions featuring expert speakers and practical advice. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with fellow workers, employers, and industry leaders to exchange ideas and strengthen workplace cultures throughout Tasmania.
The full schedule of events is available on the WorkSafe Tasmania website at worksafe.tas.gov.au/month. This initiative not only highlights the significance of physical safety but also emphasizes mental health, encouraging a holistic approach to workplace wellbeing.
By prioritizing both aspects, Tasmania aims to foster a more productive and supportive work environment, ultimately moving the state forward in its commitment to workplace safety.
