BritBox Australia is set to enhance its streaming service with a significant revamp of its content offerings, introducing new drama and comedy titles, alongside documentaries and light entertainment. The platform will also launch three new “exclusive expertly curated linear channels,” as part of its strategy to refine user experience. This overhaul, however, comes with a price increase, raising the monthly subscription fee from $9.99 to $13.99, and the annual fee from $99.99 to $139.99.

Starting in June, subscribers can look forward to Australian premieres of titles such as Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, Outrageous, Fear, and Death Valley. The lineup also includes new seasons of popular series like Shetland S9, The Bay S5, and Beyond Paradise S3. Looking ahead to 2025, BritBox will introduce new seasons of The Cleaner, Professor T, and Karen Pirie.

Expanding Content and Enhancing Experience

Moira Hogan, Executive Vice President of International Markets and General Manager of BritBox Australia, expressed enthusiasm about the platform’s future. “This exciting new chapter for BritBox Australia features an expanded slate of exclusive UK shows and genre collections,” she stated. “We aim to be the best curators of British television, offering our customers more thoughtfully organized collections.”

The revamped service will include three new programmed channels, allowing customers to choose between streaming channels or on-demand viewing. Additionally, BritBox has increased download limits, responding to customer feedback for more diverse and abundant content.

“Our customers told us they wanted more — more of the latest series, more quality dramas, comedies, and mysteries, as well as more variety across genres,” Hogan said. “Our team has crafted a user experience that combines the best of on-demand viewing with a curated channel experience.”

Introducing Curated Channels

The new channels, BBC First, BBC Entertain, and BBC Select, are designed to cater to diverse tastes. BBC First will focus on high-quality drama, featuring gripping crime thrillers and period pieces like Call the Midwife and Outrageous. BBC Entertain will offer a mix of comedy, drama, and lifestyle content, including British comedies such as Richard Osman’s House of Games and quiz shows like QI.

BBC Select will be the go-to destination for documentaries, showcasing the works of renowned presenters like David Attenborough and Brian Cox. Viewers can explore shows such as Life Below Zero and Frozen Planet, among others.

New and Exclusive Premium Content

June marks the beginning of BritBox’s expanded platform with the highly anticipated premiere of Shetland Season 9, featuring a new missing person case. The platform will also debut Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, starring Angelica Huston and Matthew Rhys. For comedy enthusiasts, the cult-favorite Mandy will be available, alongside stunning documentaries like Blue Planet and The Hunt.

This development represents a significant step forward for BritBox as it seeks to enhance its appeal to both existing fans and new customers. By offering a blend of on-demand and curated channel experiences, BritBox aims to simplify the decision-making process for viewers unsure of what to watch.

As BritBox continues to evolve, the platform’s commitment to quality and variety remains at the forefront. The price increase reflects the value of the enriched content library and enhanced viewing options. For consumers, this means a more comprehensive and engaging British television experience.
