The University of Würzburg, known as Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU), has achieved a notable position in the latest Times Higher Education Ranking, placing 179th globally among 2,191 universities from 115 countries. This ranking highlights the institution’s strengths in both knowledge transfer and research quality, reaffirming its status as a leading research university in Germany.
JMU’s performance stands out in several key areas. It ranks 17th in Germany and 3rd in Bavaria, securing a 97th position worldwide for research quality. This achievement aligns JMU with some of Germany’s prominent Universities of Excellence, reflecting the significant impact of its research output. Bibliometric analyses indicate that the university’s researchers produce highly cited publications, demonstrating their influence within the international scientific community.
Research Quality and Knowledge Transfer Excellence
The Times Higher Education Ranking assesses universities based on 18 performance indicators, which include publication and citation metrics, research funding, and internationalization efforts. JMU’s overall score of 60.1 points illustrates its robust performance across five critical dimensions: research quality, research environment, teaching, transfer, and international outlook.
In the realm of knowledge transfer, JMU has achieved a commendable 52nd place globally and 9th in Germany.
