The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) has unveiled its new NCCN Guidelines Navigator, an interactive resource designed to aid healthcare providers in the treatment of breast cancer and genetic risk assessment. This launch comes during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, marking a significant addition to NCCN’s library of evidence-based cancer care guidelines.

On October 6, 2025, the NCCN announced the expansion of its interactive library, which now covers treatment protocols for over a dozen cancer types, including breast cancer. Previously, the NCCN had introduced three digitized versions of its clinical practice guidelines earlier this year, which have quickly grown in scope and utility.

Enhanced Navigation and Accessibility

The NCCN Guidelines Navigator aims to streamline access to critical treatment recommendations, making it easier for providers to search and explore the best available evidence-based options tailored to individual patient needs. Dr. Crystal S. Denlinger, Chief Executive Officer of NCCN, emphasized the importance of this tool, stating, “The NCCN Guidelines Navigator enables health care providers to quickly find and understand the best available evidence-based options for treating each individual person.”

The new format features advanced search capabilities, color-coded navigation links, and other enhancements. It allows healthcare professionals to move seamlessly between different resources, facilitating informed decision-making based on the latest expert consensus.

According to Dr. William J. Gradishar, Chair of the NCCN Guidelines Panel for Breast Cancer, these guidelines were accessed over 16 million times in the previous year, with breast cancer treatment guidelines comprising approximately 10 percent of that total. He noted that advancements in science have significantly improved survival rates, making the integration of resources for better patient care more critical than ever.

Future Features and Integration

The NCCN Guidelines Navigator not only provides guidelines for breast cancer but also encompasses a range of other cancer types, including B-Cell lymphomas, bladder cancer, colon cancer, and more. This wide array of topics reflects the NCCN’s commitment to comprehensive cancer management, including genetic and familial high-risk assessments for various cancers.

The Navigator integrates NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates to enhance patient safety and care standardization. This integration aims to reduce medication errors and assist providers in managing treatment-related adverse events effectively. Additionally, users can earn continuing education credits by engaging with the NCCN Guidelines through this new platform.

Since its initial beta launch, the NCCN Guidelines Navigator has been accessed more than 50,000 times, receiving positive feedback from users about its search functionality and overall usability. One survey response highlighted the Navigator’s effectiveness in making existing guidelines more accessible and searchable.
