Free agent wide receiver Amari Cooper has officially returned to the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year contract, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 30-year-old player enters this new chapter after a series of high-profile trades that have marked his recent career.
Cooper’s journey through the NFL has seen him traded multiple times. Initially drafted fourth overall by the Raiders in 2015, he was sent to the Dallas Cowboys during the 2018 season. Following a successful stint in Dallas, he was traded again to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason of 2022. Most recently, the Buffalo Bills acquired him from the Browns in October 2023, where he played a total of eight regular season games and three postseason games.
Performance and Production Challenges
During his time with the Bills, Cooper encountered challenges, including a left wrist injury sustained in his second game with the team. Despite these difficulties, he managed to make an impact, catching 20 of 32 regular season targets for 297 yards and two touchdowns. In the postseason, he added six receptions but did not score.
The Bills traded a 2025 third-round pick to secure Cooper’s services, showcasing the team’s belief in his potential. However, the 2023 season marked the lowest production of his career, raising questions about his future contributions.
A Decade of Accomplishments
Cooper’s credentials are impressive, with seven seasons surpassing the 1,000-yard receiving mark, including a career-high of 1,250 yards in 2023. Across his ten seasons in the NFL, he has recorded a total of 711 receptions, 10,033 receiving yards, and 64 touchdowns.
His return to the Raiders signifies a reunion with the organization that drafted him, and fans are hopeful that he can regain his form and contribute significantly to the team in the upcoming season.
ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg contributed to this report, providing additional insights into Cooper’s career journey and the significance of his return to Las Vegas.
