The Arizona Cardinals have placed quarterback Kyler Murray on injured reserve due to a foot injury, effectively sidelining him for at least four games. This decision was announced on Wednesday, following Murray’s absence from the field since October 5. The team emphasized that this move will allow Murray to focus on rehabilitation, as he remains committed to returning as soon as possible.

Murray’s injury has raised concerns about his recovery timetable. According to sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, both Murray and the Cardinals have sought opinions from multiple foot specialists. They were advised that recovery could take between four to eight weeks, depending on the healing process and the risk of setbacks. If the longer timetable is accurate, Murray would not be available until after the Cardinals’ Week 13 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 30, 2023.

In Murray’s absence, the Cardinals will continue with Jacoby Brissett as the starting quarterback. Brissett is set to make his fourth consecutive start this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. He has performed admirably in his three starts, averaging 286 passing yards per game, along with six touchdowns and just one interception. During this span, the Cardinals’ offense has averaged 25.7 points and 357 yards per game, showcasing a strong performance despite the challenges faced.

As the Cardinals navigate this period without their star quarterback, the focus will be on maintaining momentum and securing wins. The team hopes that Murray’s dedicated rehabilitation efforts will enable him to return to the field sooner rather than later, reinforcing their playoff aspirations in the competitive landscape of the NFL.
