The Atlanta Falcons have secured their right tackle position for the upcoming seasons by signing Kaleb McGary to a two-year contract extension worth $30 million. This agreement was confirmed by McGary’s agent, Collin Roberts, to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. McGary, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 330 pounds, is entering his seventh season in the NFL after being selected by the Falcons with the 31st overall pick in the 2019 draft.
As a key player known for his exceptional run-blocking skills, McGary will now be tasked with protecting the blindside of left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr.. This adjustment comes as the Falcons aim to bolster their offensive line, an area they prioritize to enhance their overall team performance.
Two weeks prior to the announcement of his extension, McGary expressed little concern regarding his contract situation. “You’ll never find somebody more willing to be paid in all your life, trust me,” he stated. He emphasized his focus on the upcoming 2025 season rather than contract negotiations. “I’m worried about the season, and if I don’t do my job well enough then there’s not much reason to worry about it. So, I’m just one thing at a time. That’s all,” he added.
Despite facing some setbacks due to a left ankle injury that required a scope in the offseason, McGary has returned to full fitness for training camp. He noted, “I don’t know if I’ve had a joint feel as good in a long time,” indicating his readiness to contribute effectively in the new season.
Continuity in the Offensive Line
The Falcons are committed to maintaining continuity within their offensive line, which includes Pro Bowl right guard Chris Lindstrom and veteran left tackle Jake Matthews, both of whom are signed through 2028. Additionally, left guard Matthew Bergeron has two more seasons remaining on his rookie contract, while Ryan Neuzil, who has taken over as the starting center, is locked in through 2026.
