The Kansas City Chiefs have acknowledged domestic violence allegations made by Dacoda Nichole Jones, the ex-girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice. Late Wednesday, the team issued a statement confirming awareness of the allegations circulating on social media and indicated they are in communication with the National Football League (NFL) regarding the situation. The Chiefs emphasized, “We have no further comment at this time.”

Jones, who shares two children with Rice, posted images on her Instagram account on Wednesday afternoon. The images depict visible signs of physical abuse, and she alleges that the abuse has occurred over several years. While Jones did not explicitly name Rice in her post, she referred to the alleged abuser as the father of her children.

As of Wednesday evening, Jones has not filed a police report concerning the allegations in either Overland Park, Kansas, or Dallas, Texas, locations she mentioned in her post. The absence of an official report raises questions about the next steps in the case.

The situation follows a previous legal issue involving Rice. In July 2024, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his involvement in a multicar crash in Dallas that resulted in injuries to multiple individuals. Rice pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges: collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. He received deferred adjudication, meaning the case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.

The crash, which involved six vehicles, was documented on video, showing Rice and four friends fleeing the scene without checking on the injured individuals. Four days after the incident, Rice took responsibility in a statement on his Instagram story, apologizing to “everyone impacted.”

In response to his actions, the NFL imposed a six-game suspension on Rice for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, which he served at the beginning of the current season.

As the Chiefs navigate these latest allegations, the situation continues to evolve, and further developments are expected as both the team and the NFL address the claims made by Jones.
