“Getting that experience meant everything to him,” Barry-Murphy added. “That was Cole’s idea, by the way. He’d cleared it all with Pep beforehand. He knew he’d only get a couple of minutes with the first team and he wanted to play.”
Palmer’s performance against the U23s was nothing short of stellar, contributing to a resounding 5-0 victory. “You wouldn’t have known he’d just been sharing a pitch with Rodri and Phil Foden. He made no mention of it,” Barry-Murphy remarked, highlighting Palmer’s ability to seamlessly transition between different levels of competition.
